Enduro racing is about putting the fun back into racing without spending a lot of money. This is a stock car racing event of the most basic kind. Build it safe, build it to last, and keep it STOCK!!
DRIVERS: Must be 16 years old. Valid ID may be required. Passengers ok if 16 or older with proper ID.
CARS: Any 4,6, or 8 cyl 2-wheel drive car, station wagon, or minivan. No convertibles or full sized pickup trucks. Small trucks (ranger, s-10, Mazda, etc) may run. All flammable interior must be removed. All glass, plastic trim, headlights, tail light and covers, hub caps, antennas, and chrome must be removed. Door must be welded shut. Stock bumpers must be attached. No body cutting, chopping, or reinforcing. Wheel wells may be modified to allow for tire clearance. No bracing whatsoever except for the approved roll cage.
SAFETY: OFFICIALS HAVE THE FINAL DETERMINATION IF CAR MEETS SAFETY STANDARDS.
ROLL CAGE: A MIN OF 1 ROLLBAR BEHIND DRIVERS SEAT IS MANDATORY AND MUST HAVE 2 DOWN BARS TO THE REAR FOR BRACING. Roll cage must be welded to frame and must not be used to reinforce frame or body in any manner. Min 1 drivers side door bar on the inside or outside. Must be mounted flush against body if on the outside of car. No front hoops or rear hoops allowed. All front windshields require 3 bars in front of driver or full screen if passenger in car.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Drivers window nets recommended. Aluminum racing seats ok. 4 point, 3” safety belt recommended and mounted to roll cage. 5-point racing harness is recommended. It is highly recommended that you use a rear of seat brace. Helmets must be snell 95 or better. Drivers must wear min. long sleeve shirts, long pants, socks, boots or sneakers. Full fire suit, gloves, & neck brace highly recommended.
ENGINE/TRANSMISSION: Any stock engine and transmission combination. Must have a full size clutch for standard tranny & stock torque converter on automatics.
CARBURETOR: One 2 brl or 4 brl only. Must be OEM stock. No double pumpers. No electric fuel pumps unless car is factory fuel injected. Stock air cleaners.
TIRES & WHEELS: DOT street legal tires. 235/60 maximum. 8” steel wheels, 1” lug nuts recommended. No wheel spacers.
SUSPENSION: Must be absolutely stock. No modifications allowed. Steering and suspension may not be reinforced in any way. Stock spring and shocks in stock location. No spacers.
RADIATOR: One radiator in stock location. No auxiliary cooling systems anywhere else.
BATTERY: Must be in stock location. May be located in driver’s compartment only if securely mounted in a approved container.
EXHAUST: Stock only. Mufflers may be removed. No headers.
GAS TANK: Are safest in stock location. If moved to trunk, tank must be strapped in two directions with steel straps, securely bolted to trunk floor. Complete firewall mandatory. Connections must be secured with no fuel lines hanging below the chassis. Fuel cells are permitted. Pump gas only. No racing fuel or alcohol.
CAR NUMBERS: A number will be provided for you by the track according to what number is drawn for starting position. MAKE IT LEGIBLE!!!
MISC ITEMS: Drive shafts must be painted white. Locked gear ok. Safety loop must be around driveshaft no further back than 12” from front u-joint. Ignition OEM only. If keyed, key must be secured to the column. Toggle switch ok. Firewalls must be completely sealed. No radio’s, video cameras, or cell phones in any car. No AFTERMARKET PARTS.
CLAIMS: Any car that wins this race is subject to be bought for $750.00 cash and may be auctioned off as soon as the winner has been determined.
SCORING: EACH CAR MUST PROVIDE HIS OR HER OWN SCORER.
All cars will be inspected for safety regulations prior to each race. Officials have the final determination if the cars meet safety standards and are eligible to race.
These are not race cars they will not have front and rear hoops like a race car. If it is determined that your car is a race car you will not be allowed to race in the race.
2012 ENDURO RACE PROCEDURES
1. EACH COMPETITOR MUST PROVIDE A SCORER. All score cards will be checked and rechecked. Any discrepancies can result in scorecards being pulled at anytime during or after the completion. If you do not have a scorer, YOU WILL NOT BE SCORED. Each competitor is responsible for their scorer’s actions. Scorers will sit in the designated area of grandstands. Scorers will need to provide a clipboard and several pens. Scoring rules will be provided at pre-race meeting.
2. It is recommended that each car be painted and numbered clearly so your scorer can score accurately. No foul language or derogatory phrases to appear on the car.
3. Starting positions will be determined by draw when you sign in the day of the race.
4. There will be a mandatory drivers meeting 1 hour before the race and a mandatory scorer meeting 1/2hr before the race. Starting lineups will be posted at this time. Any car that does not have a scorer in place at the pre-race meeting will be disqualified.
5. Races will be started from a standing start. The yellow flag will not be used. Drivers must avoid disabled cars and continue to race. Drivers CANNOT leave their cars unless they are instructed to by the track officials during a red flag period. Drivers must remain strapped in their cars with their helmets on while on the track in a disabled car. The race will be stopped by red flag only if the track is totally blocked or a dangerous situation exists on the track. The race will resume with the cars in the same position they were in when the red flag was thrown. Racing must be confined to the racing surface only. Any car racing in the infield will be disqualified. The black flag will be used for a unique situations concerning safety issue and/or mechanical failures deemed detrimental to the track facility.
6. Pit crew members will not be allowed on the track at any time during the race. PIT STOPS ARE ALLOWED UNDER GREEN FLAG CONDITIONS ONLY. Pitting under red flag will result in 5 lap penalty.
7. Rough and dangerous driving will not be tolerated.
8. The race will end of a showing of the checkered flag at the end of the time limit or the end of the required laps.
9. The unofficial top 10 cars will stop in the inspection area after the race. Any car found to be illegal will be disqualified.
10. Should the weather effect the race after it is 50% done it will be deemed finished.
11. POSITIVELY NO ALCOHOL, DRUGS, OBSCENE OR ABUSIVE LANGUAGE WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE SCORERS STAND OR IN THE PIT AREA.
12. All score cards must be immediately turned in to the official at the end of the race.
13. Winning car can be bought by the event promoters for $750.00. Refusal will result in disqualification.
Each competitor is expected to educate himself/herself with respect to the availability and effectiveness of personal safety equipment. Driver safety is the sole responsibility of the driver.
Interpretation of these race procedures will be through the tech inspector and event officials only. Decisions made by officials are final.
